Where outdoor fitness equipment stands

Outdoor fitness equipment has been one of our biggest efforts since 2023. Here's where it stands:

• The design is approved. Rec & Park approved the National Fitness Campaign design in December 2024, after three community meetings. The design includes a “studio” area for dance and Tai Chi.
• We're waitlisted for funding. We applied for a Community Opportunity Fund in March 2026 and in June we were selected, but put on a waitlist. If there is any money left over from this fund cycle, the Fitness Equipment is at the top of that waitlist to receive money, though it might result in a smaller design than our proposal. It still could be a year or more before we know whether funds are available.
• Open to alternative funding. In the meantime, we're open alternative fundings sources. Please contact us if you know of other options (grants, donors, foundations, company giving) for funding.
